'Twas the hour before the National Independent Film Association Awards, and the day after "Rise of Deermageddon" premiered at a live event for legendary filmmaker Bill Rebane's "Giant Spider Invasion", and I sat down with filmmaker Eric Gulbrandsen, part of the creative team for "Rise of Deermageddon". Eric and I talked about his experiences working with "A Forest Dark" and "Rise of Deermageddon", both films that are official selections for the Milwaukee Independent Film Awards festival.
In an amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity, I was fortunate enough to interview world renowned filmmaker and Wisconsin LEGEND, Bill Rebane. One of Bill's biggest claims to fame is "The Giant Spider Invasion", which was shot entirely in Wisconsin in 1974, and in 1975 the film grossed worldwide for a total of $150,000,000 on a budget of $300,000. In 2024, the budget would be $2-3 million adjusted for inflation and would have grossed nearly $900,000,000.
